STUDIES OF CHAOS IN A MICROWAVE KLYSTRON OSCILLATOR WITH DELAYED FEEDBACK

Abstract

Nonlinear dynamics and chaos in a klystron oscillator with delayed feedback is considered numerically and experimentally. Theoretical model of the oscillator is developed in the form of a system of delayed differential equations. A global bifurcation pattern of selfmodulation and chaotic regimes is studied numerically. Experimental results for the five-cavity klystron oscillator are presented, showing good qualitative agreement with numerically obtained data. Special attention is paid to synchronization of the oscillator driven by an external signal.
